    இன்றைய பயணம் இதோ தொடங்கி விட்டது! Zion National Park-இன் கிழக்கு வாயிலிலிருந்தே இருபக்கங்களிலும் பழுப்பு நிறத்தில் கம்பீரமாய் பெரிய பெரிய மணற்கற்கள் நின்றன. அவற்றோடு அடர்பச்சை மரங்கள் ஒன்று கூடி கடந்து செல்வோரை வசீகரிக்க செய்தன. கொஞ்ச தூரம் கடந்ததும் சாலையின் நடுவே ஓர் பெரிய மணற்கல்(Checkerboard Mesa) குறுக்குவெட்டுகளுடன் தெரிந்தது. அதை நெருங்க நெருங்க இன்னும் பெரிதாய் தெரிந்தது. அக்கல்லின் உச்சியிலிருந்து அலையலையாய் வடிவமைப்பு நேற்று பார்த்த Antelope Canyon-இன் வடிவமைப்பை ஒத்திருந்தது. நிச்சயம்… Read more

  • Glen Canyon Dam – AZ

    பார்க்கிங்கிலிருந்து வெளியே வந்ததும் இப்போது  பாறையில் செதுக்கப்பட்ட படிக்கட்டுகள். அவற்றின் உலோகக் கைப்பிடியைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு ஓர் சிறிய நடைப்பயணம். பாதையின் முடிவில் இங்கும் ஓர் பள்ளத்தாக்கு. இப்பள்ளத்தாக்கின் நடுவிலும் ஓர் ஆறு. அங்கே Horseshoe Bend-இன் விளிம்பில் நின்று பார்த்த அதே கொலராடோ ஆறு(Colorado River) இங்கும் புகுந்து ஓடிக் கொண்டிருந்தது. இடப்பக்கம் நதிநீரும் அந்நதிநீர் கிழித்தோடும் பள்ளத்தாக்கும் வலப்பக்கம் அணைக்கட்டும் தெரிந்தது. இப்படி இயற்கையின் படைப்பும் மனிதனின் படைப்பும் இடமும் வலமுமாய் காட்சியளித்தன. கிளென் பள்ளத்தாக்கின்(Glen… Read more

  • HorseShoe Bend – AZ

    ஆழமான மென்மணலாலான நடைபாதை ஒன்று பார்க்கிங்கிலிருந்து Horseshoe Bend-இற்கு எங்களை கூட்டிச் சென்றது. பாதி தூரம் வரை சமதளம் தான். அதில் கஷ்டப்பட்டு ஏறுவதற்கோ இறங்குவதற்கோ பெரிய சிரமம் ஏதுமில்லை. தூரத்தில் ஆங்காங்கே பள்ளத்தாக்குகள் இருப்பதை பார்த்துக் கொண்டே நடந்தோம். இடம், வலம், முன், பின் என கண்ணில் பட்டவையெல்லாம் செம்பாறைகள் மட்டுமே. பாதையின் முடிவில் பார்வையாளர்கள் சிலர் செம்பாறைகள் மேல் ஏறி நின்று எதையோ குனிந்துப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். சிலர் பாறைகளிலிருந்து அவர்கள் எப்போது இறங்குவார்கள்… Read more
